Human Geography and Planning was not on my list at first. That changed when I asked someone about their studies, and they told me about this one. I became interested, looked it up, and after thinking about the city, I decided to study in Amsterdam. In the end, the city and the programme seemed the best fit for me.

In this programme, you learn about space and how people use it in politics, society, and the economy. You also learn how to use this knowledge to make cities and countries better! I am really looking forward to the research project abroad in my second year. You also learn why it is important to work together with all the people who are involved in a place.

What I like most about the programme is that it connects to things you see every day, on the train, on holiday, or in your own town: patterns, structures, or how people use space. Even as a child, I noticed these things in new places. I wondered, for example, how a power line could go through a village, or how a big railway station could be built in the hills of France. Now I study these questions and learn how to solve them.

The programme fits well with a social life. If, like me, you are motivated and interested in many parts of the course, there is still plenty of free time. I am also a member of the student association Sarphati. The association has something for everyone; I even went on a trip to Jordan, which was amazing!

Are you interested in the world around you, do you like travelling and being on the move, and do you want to solve spatial problems? Then you should study this programme, just like me!
