Tim van Gerven has won the Nordic History Book Award with his book 'Scandinavism: Overlapping and Competing Identities in the Nordic World, 1770–1919.'

Tim van Gerven has won the "Nordic History Book Award" with Scandinavism: Overlapping and Competing Identities in the Nordic World, 1770–1919, published by Brill as part of the "National Cultivation of Culture" series. The book is based upon his doctoral thesis, jointly supervised by Joep Leerssen (European Studies), Henk van der Liet and Suze van der Poll (Scandinavian Languages).

The Nordic History Book Award, first awarded in 2017, was initiated by the Committee of Nordic Historians, consisting of representatives of the national historical associations, in collaboration with Scandinavian Journal of History and the Centre for Nordic Studies at the University of Helsinki (CENS). It is given to the author/s of the most innovative and thoughtful historical recent work in Nordic history.
